Italian manufacturer Synthesis is introducing an enhanced version of its popular and well-liked ROMA 510AC integrated amplifier. The new product, called ROMA 510AC Signature, features several enhancements, increasing the versatility of the unit, as well as improving its sound. Among the first are XLR inputs and a high-end phono preamp accepting MM/MC cartridges, while the toroidal transformer used in the power supply will undoubtedly have a very big impact on the purity of the sound.
The input stage of the MM and MC phono preamplifier uses a low-noise operational amplifier with a separate regulated power supply, equipped with extensive filtering circuitry to ensure noise and interference reduction. A toroidal power transformer provides an unexpected boost to the unit's performance. To achieve a high output power of 2 x 80W, KT88 power tubes operating in a push-pull configuration in petode mode were used.
In the construction of the Roma 510AC Signature amplifier, components selected with great care and subjected to exhaustive analysis of their effect on sound were used. The tubes used are annealed and undergo a fully computerized inspection. As a result, those that show the best performance match with the benchmark are selected, and then they are paired to achieve perfect stereo balance.
