Ortofon

Turntables

ORTOFON has over 100 years of tradition. It was founded in 1918 as the Electric Phono Film Company when two Danish engineers—Axel Petersen (1887–1971) and Arnold Poulsen (1889–1952)—began experiments that led them to synchronize sound with film imagery. In 1946, the old name of the company was changed to FonoFilm Industry A/S, and in 1947 the Ortofon A/S trading company was founded under its wings. In 1959, the first "stereo pick up" cartridge – SPU – was created. Ten years later, the first M-15 moving magnet cartridge was launched, followed by the first MC-20 and MC-20 MKII moving coil cartridges eight years later.

Today, the company's offer includes mono/stereo cartridges with a moving coil/moving magnet in a very large price range. The most popular products in the "OM" and "2M" lines cost from 250 to 2700 ,-, products from the renowned "MC Cadenza" line from 4600 to 9600 ,- , while the most advanced design: "MC Anna Diamonde", designed for use in the most perfect turntables in the world, costs over 35000,-.
