UK-based PMC is introducing a line of active home speakers, the Active twenty5i, an elegant and simple solution for any music lover. With optimized amplification built into each speaker, all you need is a preamplifier or DAC decoder or streaming player with output volume control to create a top-notch music system.

At PMC, we always strive for a closer connection to the music by reproducing it with greater transparency, clarity and resolution. For more than 30 years, we have applied this motto to the professional world by building active loudspeakers. Precision analog feedback divides the sound into bands dedicated to individual drivers, and then the extracted signals go to dedicated and optimized amplifiers.
With the creation of the "Active twenty5i," we are taking this approach to our best-selling "twenty5i" line of home speakers. We add integrated electronics with amplification for superior performance and efficiency, eliminating an additional integrated amplifier or power amplifier from the circuit. All you need is a preamplifier, D/A converter or streamer with output level control and you get a complete high-resolution system without the clutter of multiple hi-fi components.
In all the loudspeakers that make up the Active Twenty5i line, each driver is directly controlled from a perfectly matched 100W amplifier that easily keeps it in check. Thanks to analog crossovers with meticulously modeled characteristics, each amplifier handles only those frequencies that are intended for a specific driver. This guarantees their perfect integration which results in a stunningly clear, natural and free-breathing sound.
PMC Active Twenty5i is an elegant and simple solution for any music lover. They are reinventing the models in the PMC twenty5i line, adding even more resolution and control and bringing you even closer to the music.
Currently in the Active Twenty5i line, there are four speaker models. Two of them are monitors: the Active twenty5.21i and Active twenty5.22i, and two are floorstanders: the Active twenty5.23i and Active twenty5.24i.

TECHNICAL SOLUTIONS:

G-weave - woofers equipped with new diaphragms which are built from: a fine weave of fiberglass, resin and paper pulp. This material is stronger than paper itself, yet perfectly transparent. The magnetic system used is 80% more efficient than that used in older solutions.

Laminar - transmission line outlet (ATL) profile specially developed to ensure perfect airflow from inside the case to the surroundings. In designing it, we drew on the experience Oliver Thomas gained working in Formula One, where turbulence is decisively combated as it brakes the cars. The Laminair profile was first used in the QB1 professional main monitors, where 4 powerful 10-inch woofers, with a total power output of 4000W, blow air into the transmission line. Laminair has ensured that turbulence slowing down the airflow is minimized, making the column's reproduced bass even faster, more dynamic and better defined, while the flowing air does not produce any noises.

ATL - (Advanced Transmission Line) The transmission line places the drive unit at the end of a long, heavily damped tunnel that absorbs all of the unwanted mid- and high-frequency energy emitted by the rear of the transducer, but allows the lowest frequencies to leave the line in phase with the transducer's radiated wavefront, while greatly improving bass quality. The transmission line operates effectively over a wide bandwidth of about two octaves, which are centered around the main resonant frequency of the transmission line, and in this area controls the movement of the drive unit, significantly reducing distortion and raising the maximum possible output level. The resonant frequency of the transmission line is defined by the acoustic length of the tunnel in such a way that it is equal to the frequency of the sound wave of which one-fourth is equal to the acoustic length of the tunnel.

EXCELLENCE OF WORKMANSHIP

Each product undergoes a full computer check, so we know that technically it is accomplished, but we go further. The computer doesn't tell the whole truth about a speaker, and our customers listen with their ears - so we do too. We conduct listening tests on every speaker we produce, in terms of its ability to reproduce speech and reproduce a wide range of music: including classical, rock or pop.

Each speaker is compared to a reference model, and paired speakers are cross-checked to ensure perfect fit. With 30 years of attention to the smallest details, at every stage of production, we have built a reputation for making the best speakers.
Artists and institutions who create music using PMCs compose, mix and rip it on our speakers:
John Newman, Elbow, Embrace, Sade, Elton John & Leon Russell, Prince, Stevie Wonder, Coldplay, Kraftwerk, Peter Gabriel, Robbie Williams, Brian May, Eleanor McEvoy, Marillion, Sony Music, Underworld, Tony Bennett, Universal Music, RTL, Emil Berliner/Deutsche Grammophon, Teldex Studios, Hospital HDTV Broadcast Studios, EMI, Royal Shakespeare Company, Decca, The Moving Picture Company, ORF, The Düsseldorf University of Music, The Royal School of Music, Warner Music, BBC Radio, BBC TV, Capitol Studios, Chesky Records, New York University....
